My Husband Plans To Sell Our Child To Pay My Dowry, Wife Tells Court

In a desperate bid to pay his wife’s bride price 10 years after impregnating her and luring her into cohabitation, Ekwene Itba is planning to sell one of his children to pay the bride price, a divorce-seeking woman, Esther Itba, told an Idi-Ogungun Customary Court at Agodi in Ibadan on Monday.

“My Lord, I kept on worrying him to pay my dowry until we had three children, but he refused until recently when he sought my approval to allow him sell one of our three children to pay the dowry and formalise our marriage,” she said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Esther had approached the court seeking the dissolution of her 10-year-old “union” on the grounds of non-payment of dowry, ill-treatment and failure to carry out his responsibility.

My husband is under his mother’s tutelage, wife tells court

A housewife, Iyabo Olatunji , has told an Akure Customary Court that her husband, Ezekiel, is still under his mother’s tutelage.
Iyabo also said her husband is an alcoholic and batters her at will without any caution from his mother.
Iyabo, made this known while testifying in her divorce proceedings on Friday.
She said, “My husband was working by his mother’s directive.
“It is my mother-in-law that gives us food and my husband will not do anything except waiting for his mother’s money.

My husband wants to use me for money ritual, wife tells court


A mother of three, Nike Akinbile has told a Mapo Customary Court, Ibadan, that her husband Femi is desperately making effort to use her for monetary ritual.
Nike, who resides at Olunloyo Area, Ibadan, made this known when she testified in her divorce proceedings against Femi on Friday.
“For the past two years now, Femi has been making frantic effort to get rich at all cost and I am his primary target for that purpose.
