N94m bullet-proof tyres for Buhari, others

The Federal Government plans to spend N94.5 million on bullet-proof tyres for President Muhammadu Buhari and others this year, State House Permanent Secretary Jalal A. Arabi has said.

Canteen and kitchen equipment will cost N100.8 million.

The Nation reports that , these are part of the breakdown of the State House  budget presented by Arabi to the Senate Committee on Federal Character and Inter-Governmental Affairs.

N600m Arms Scam: EFCC Closes Case against Atawodi, Others

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 presented two witnesses to close its case against a former Chairman Presidential Implementation on Maritime Safety (PICCOMS), Air Vice Marshal Saliu Atawodi (rtd) and two others who are being prosecuted before Justice U.P Kekemeke of the FCT High Court sitting in Apo, Abuja for conspiracy, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds.

Atawodi allegedly abused his position as chairman PICCOMS to defraud the Nigerian government to the tune of N600million through a dubious contract to procure military boats. He awarded the contract to Hassan's Hypertech Nigeria Limited. The contractor was fully paid, but the boats were never supplied. The contract award process violated the Procurement Act.

Fighting Boko Haram Policy! Schooling At Home, Containers, Tents Suggested For Students In Borno, Yobe, Others

Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima yesterday revealed that 900 schools have been destroyed and 176 teachers killed in the last 3years by members of Boko Haram in the State. He made this announcement yesterday during the inaugural meeting of the Steering Committee of the Safe Schools Initiative which is aimed at ensuring a smooth implementation of the safe school project.

Give Half Of Your Salaries For One Year To Unemployed Youths! Oritsejafor Tells President, Others

President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Ayo Oritsejafor has asked the President and other public office holders to give half of their salaries for one year to unemployed youths.

Oritsejafor made this statement on Tuesday, October 1st during the 53rd Independence Anniversary Interdenominational Church Service.
