A crisis of
confidence has broken out between Minister of State for Petroleum
Resources Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu and Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation (NNPC) Group Managing Director (GMD) Dr. Maikanti Baru.
The minister has accused the GMD of awarding $25billion contracts without consulting either his office or the corporation’s board. He blamed the GMD for alleged insubordination, lack of adherence to due process and running a “bravado management style”.
