Michelle Carter was just 17 when she encouraged Conrad Roy III, 18, to end his life in a series of sick text messages.
He died in 2014 of carbon monoxide poisoning, after driving to a secluded parking lot and killing himself.Prosecutors said Carter also told Mr Roy to "get back in" when he got out of his truck, parked in Fairhaven, Massachusetts.
He had been suffering mental health problems for some time.
