The robbers who targeted Kim Kardashian
and stole more than £8.5million worth of her jewellery were reportedly
caught on CCTV as they crept past a sleeping guard and escaped on push
bikes.
It was thought the armed gang avoided a police camera, which was not pointed at the front of her Paris apartment block and that local businesses didn't have any footage either.
However,
now it has been revealed that the gang was caught in a 'million-to-one'
image after a camera facing a mirror reflected their getaway.
According to The Sun, French police have now seized the footage from the Bel Ange nail salon on the same street as the apartment.
A camera on
the salon's mezzanine-level was reportedly facing a large mirror which
reflected an image of the gang as they made their getaway.
Meanwhile
a second, ground-level camera also caught the armed men fleeing via a
back door and into an office block behind the upmarket Hotel de
Pourtales.
It
comes as officers are still hunting the five people suspected of
assaulting Kim in her palatial apartment, which she rents for £25,000 a
month.
They wore
ski masks to hide their faces as they attacked the 35-year-old reality
TV star and mother-of-two who screamed ‘Please don’t kill me! I have
children’.
The men tied her hands together, pulled tape across her mouth, and then placed her in a marble bath.
The door of
the bathroom was then locked, and two members of the gang helped
themselves to a jewellery box worth £5.24 million and a ring worth £3.5
million.
The robbers had also handcuffed and gagged the concierge of the nine-apartment block, which is close to the British Embassy.
Neighbours
of the star 'did not hear a thing' when she was screaming for help
while being robbed in Paris and the gangsters did not leave a trace of
DNA, it emerged today.
Kardashian is said to have been screaming frantically both before and
after being locked in a bathroom, where she too was bound up with tape
across her mouth.
She
managed to escape, according to her own testament, and made a phone
call to her bodyguard logged at 2.56am on Monday, while also shouting
for help from a balcony.
A
number of people were staying in the nine flat block in which the
35-year-old reality TV star had a gun pointed to her head before losing
£9 million worth of jewels early on Monday morning.
Two
days on, police in the French capital said that everyone inside the
prestigious Hotel Pourtales at the time 'has now been spoken to, and the
neighbours heard nothing at all'.
The source added: 'Forensic enquiries have also been carried out, but as yet there is no useful DNA evidence.'
After
their highly organised raid, the five men were seen escaping on
‘velibs’ - hire bicycles which can be rented all over Paris.
Kardashian, who was in the French capital to attend fashion week shows, returned to the U.S. on Monday.
Paris prosecutors on Tuesday declined to answer whether the robbers had received help from the reality TV star's entourage.
Kardashian's
stylist was also in the residence at the time, and alerted police, but
her bodyguard was not present, according to the prosecutor's office.
Investigators
said Kardashian and her stylist Simone Harouche had provided brief
statements before returning to the USA within hours of the crime.
The only other confirmed witness is an unnamed porter who is said to have been tied up and gagged and left in the stairwell.
Detectives admit that the high-profile crime is one of the strangest they have had to deal with in recent years.
They
assumed that Kardashian, whose rapper husband Kanye West, would have
been surrounded by her own private security guards, and that she would
never have kept such valuable jewellery with her while sleeping alone.
Police
have also made much of the fact that the attackers focused on
'possessions that had been seen and noticed via social media.'
Four days
ago, Kardashian posted a close-up photograph of a huge diamond ring on
her left hand captioned with three diamond emojis.
Police
also remain baffled as to how the robbers got into the flat, which was
protected by an armoured door locked from the inside.
Numerous
theories about the gang have been put forward, including that they are
'Pink Panthers' - a notorious organised crime syndicate made up mainly
of Eastern European gangsters.
But
the Panthers are known for escaping the scene of their crimes in
high-end sports cars, rather than pushbikes. It is also thought that the
criminals who targeted Ms Kardashian spoke in French.
Shortly
after the incident, Kanye West ended his concert at Meadows Festival in
Queens, New York on Sunday due to a ‘family emergency’.
