The Bayelsa State Government has said that the renovation of the
Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, the state capital, will soon be
completed and ready for sporting activities.
A Government House statement on Friday quoted the Commissioner for
Information and Orientation, Jonathan Obuebite, as giving the assurance
at the end of a football match between the Creek Haven All Stars and
KOLGA All Stars.
The competition was organised in honour of the Chairman of the Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government.
Obuebite said very soon, the stadium would come alive and hosting
top leagues matches, noting that sports-loving Bayelsans would once
again have a taste of first-class soccer games.
He commended the state governor, Seriake Dickson, for approving funds for the project.
Obuebite emphasised, “The football pitch will be ready very soon to
enable Bayelsa United Football Club of Yenagoa to return to their
fortress at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
On his part, the contractor handling the job, Moni Michelle, also
applauded the governor for giving his company the opportunity to be a
part of history.
