Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero, must really have some hard luck, when it comes to offering himself for public service.
Last year June, he was almost crowned the successor to his
illustrious father, Ado Bayero, as Emir of the largest Nigerian city of
Kano, until the state government ruled the move as speculative and
chose instead Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.
In April this year, former President Goodluck Jonathan sacked Habibu
Abdullahi, as the Managing director of the Nigerian Ports Authority and
announced Bayero as the new helmsman. But four months after, Bayero has
lost out, as President Muhammadu Buhari ordered a return to the status
quo ante. Habibu has been reappointed. Bayero kicked out.
Is it a matter of bad luck or what for the 59 year-old Kano born
lawyer and first son of the late Emir? Despite the setbacks, in
occupying public space, Sanusi Lamido Ado-Bayero remains the Ciroman of
the Kano Emirate.
Born on April 1, 1956, he attended Rano Boarding Primary School,
Kano, from 1963 to 1969, Rumfa College, Kano from 1969-1973 and

School of Basic Studies.
Mr. Ado-Bayero attended Ecole International De La Langue Francoise,
Paris where he obtained a diploma in French, and a diploma in Law from
the Institute of Administration, Kongo, Zaria. Apart from Hausa, the
Ciroman of Kano also speaks French, Arabic and of course English,
fluently.
He obtained an LL.B from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1983 and BL from the Nigerian Law School in 1984.

Polytechnic and later moved on to become State counsel in the Ministry
of Justice Gidan Murtala Kano.
