A woman has been hospitalised after she fell down a hole in a pavement as she walked along a London street this morning.
Onlookers
reported hearing a loud scream before the woman, who has not been
identified, 'disappeared' down the gap in the pavement outside a cafe
in Fulham, south west London.
Ambulance
crews were called to the Marrakech Express in North End Road at about
8.50am to help get the woman, thought to be in her mid-forties, out of
the five foot by two and a half foot hole.
Passers-by
reported hearing a loud scream before the woman fell into the gap and
early reports suggested she had been pushing a pram, although it's now
thought it was a shopping trolley.
Kate
Sissons, who witnessed the fall, posted a picture on Instagram, saying:
'OMG! Poor woman and pram just disappeared down this hole on North End
Rd. Shes stuck down there.'
Builder Paul Smith, 28, was walking to work when he saw a commotion outside the cafe.
He
said: 'Someone had fallen through - just like a trapdoor. It's crazy.
There is a huge whole in the floor and someone has fallen through the
pavement.
