Chocolate City rapper, Ice Prince is set to launch his personal record label while still signed to Chocolate City.
Insider reports reveal that plans are at an advanced stage to announce the label, with a number of artistes signed.
Recently one of the artistes, Stuntz, released his debut material, ‘Ojukokoro’, a tidy rap single.
Ice
Prince has always hinted he has a record label in the works. In April
2014, during an interview with MTV UK, the rapper talked about the
record label.
“There’s Super Cool Cats music,
my new outfit, and I have a few artists that I want to introduce to the
world. There’s a girl called Ruth and a guy called Stunt. They’re all
super cool cats. And there are a lot of producers in that outfit as
well.”
Ice Prince will not be the first to diversify his label association, with label-mate M.I Abaga
also owning and running his imprint, Loopy Music, under which are
signed Ruby Gyang, Milli, Loose Kaynon and DJ Lambo. Loopy Music was
created in 2012.
Ice Prince who recently released his a mixtape, ‘Trash Can EP’, will not have a problem with his Chocolate City bosses over the running of his label.
The
opposite is quite expected with his label President, Audu Maikori
revealing recently that Chocolate City encourages personal growth.
“We are very happy with it, there’s no friction between both labels.” Audu told Hip TV. “Ice
Prince also has Super Cool Cats, which is his new imprint and it’s
coming out soon, one of the things Choc City set out to do is to be the
mother body and create that platform for others to grow and we have
encouraged that actively by supporting their projects.”
