Palm Beach becomes a social hot spot for Thanksgiving

There were plenty of turkeys in paradise over Thanksgiving as Palm Beach’s private clubs served up grand buffets and hostesses put on private dinners.

The holiday weekend began with Alice “Kit” Zimmer Pannill’s “big cocktail reception” at the Everglades Club, which also served as a memorial service for her late husband William, the club’s former president and a renowned hybridizer of daffodils.

(Since the ’60s, Pannill had named and registered more than 210 new daffodils.)

Also on the busy social calendar on Friday were a book signing at the Preservation Foundation by Hilary Geary Ross and Harry Benson for their new tome, “Palm Beach People,” and a reception for artist Edwina Sandys, granddaughter of Winston Churchill.

Spotted swanning around town were Greek shipping heir Harry Theodoracopulos, Vanderbilt daughter Virginia “Ginnie” Burke, Broadway producer Robert Nederlander, Town Councilman Bill Diamond, Marquesa Barbara Crass Figueroa, onetime Vogue cover girl Fern Tailer, former ambassador Mary Ourisman and “lots of Fanjuls.”

Bob Crippen, the pilot of the first Space Shuttle launch, was seen dining at crowded restaurant BrickTop’s.

On Thanksgiving, Terry Allen Kramer — producer of Bradley Cooper show “The Elephant Man” — hosted a dinner at her oceanside estate.
