Dominican-American Fashion Icon Oscar de la Renta dies at 82


Óscar Arístides de la Renta Fiallo, the Dominican American fashion designer is dead. He died yesterday, October 20 at his home in Kent, Conn.  He was 82.  He was Born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, De la Renta was trained by Cristóbal Balenciaga and Antonio del Castillo.  He was the first Latino to be accepted into the exclusive ranks of Parisian fashion houses. Later as a U.S. citizen, he became the first American to design for a French couture house. All the while, Mr. de la Renta was building a brand that, in exclusive circles and in small-town bridal salons alike, was known by one word: Oscar. 
 
He's survived by a wife, a son, stepchildren and step grandchildren. May his soul rest in peace amen.A true legend fashion Icon is Gone.
