A clash between Cameroonian troops and Boko Haram insurgents has left 39 of the terrorists dead, the country’s defence ministry has said.
Four Nigerian refugees also lost their lives in the attack while one Cameroonian was wounded.
Details of the attack were contained in a statement sent to AFP by the ministry.
The militants reportedly invaded the village of Glawi “killing four Nigerian refugees and wounding one Cameroonian, before being pushed back by defence forces which pursued them until the borders,” the statement reads.

It added that two groups of terrorists were “immediately intercepted and neutralised by our defence forces who destroyed three 4×4 vehicles equipped with machine guns, killing 27 assailants.”
Boko Haram attacks spill into Cameroon largely because of its expansive border with Nigeria but President Paul Biya has vowed to “wipe out” the sect.
