Ebola: UNICEF Trains 5,000 Teachers For Sept 22 School Resumption Date

unicefUNICEF on Monday held a training programme in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital for more than 5,000 school teachers in various capacities to be able to monitor pupils to prevent the spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in the country while keeping themselves safe.
The teachers received their training from the Port Harcourt Ebola Emergency Operation Centre (EEOC) teams who taught them the best strategies to combat the dreaded disease.
The UN children’s agency said in a statement that it set up the training programme to minimize the growing fears of parents over the insistence by the Federal Government on the September  22 resumption date for all primary and secondary schools across the country.
“As the school year is set to start later this month, teachers in Nigeria are getting a valuable lesson on how knowledge about the Ebola virus can help save lives, contain the disease and avoid stigmatization,” UNICEF said.
